My daughter is 2 yr old.
Should we give Polio booster at 2 or 2and a half? |
| Dr
K N Shah |
The ideal age for the first
booster is 1.5 yrs. You should give it as fast as possible after this age. |

My daughter gets some
discharge from her private parts which smells. What should I do? |
| Dr
K. N. Shah |
How old is your daughter
Alka? |
| Alka
Shah |
She is 2 yr |
| Dr
K. N. Shah |
She maybe suffering from
vulvovaginits - local infection of the pvt parts. Get her examined by your doctor. He will
then decide for further investigations or treat her directly. Sometimes threadworm
infection can also give rise to such a discharge and can be associated with urinary tract
infection. We have a article on growingwell. why don't you go through it? Then get back to
me. |

Dr Shah My son 1yr 6 mths
while crying, gets a fit. I am worried. Doctors here in Dhulia say not to worry |
| Dr
K. N. Shah |
Your child is probably
getting breath holding attacks. Instead of getting panicky, understand the reason for it.
When the child starts crying he/she holds the breath for prolonged time. So the brain does
not get enough Oxygen and so the child has a fit. At the same time due to less oxygen the
child may become blue particularly over the lips. Once the child starts breathing deeply
again the oxygen supply starts and the baby is alright in a few seconds |
| Ruby |
Doctor I am a muslim. My
son has been circumcised. Now he can not pass urine properly. Is it related? |
| Dr
K. N. Shah |
No Ruby. It is unlikely
that your son's problem is related. There may be some other cause like constriction of the
opening of the urethra. It is better to get him checked by your doctor. |
| Heena |
My son 6 yr old used to get
fits due to fever, till what age he can get these? |
| Dr
K. N. Shah |
Most likely he has simple
febrile convulsions. These usually last only upto 6 yrs but rarely do extend upto 7-8 yrs.
It is advisable to get an EEG done and consult a specialist in this field |
| Harsha |
My son, 6 yrs old is a
loner. He does not have many friends and does not mix with others. What to do? |
| Dr
K. N. Shah |
This is some kind of
behaviour problem. Best advice is to ensure that he is exposed to peers and encourage him
to play, interact with others. Does he have any fears? |
| Harsha |
no only a little
uncomfortable with heights |
| Dr
K. N. Shah |
It is better to take him to
your doctor. I'm sure he'll be able to unearth more fears. |
| Sarita |
Doctor, you have treated me
as child. I am in Delhi. My son 8 years still wets the bed! |
| Dr
K. N. Shah |
Sarita get a urine test
done. In most cases there is no cause for this condition called enuresis. It is often
familial. Usually it resolves on it's own when the child reaches puberty. |
