By now the excitement of having a baby must have reached manageable proportions and you must have been inundated with suggestions, experiences and advises (most of them unsolicited) on how to bring up your child. We at growingwell.com understand the confusion and apprehension you must be feeling. Our compliments on selecting growingwell for the assessment of your child’s growth and development.

So your darling is now 1 month old. This period is known as the neonatal period.

She can now be held in a sitting position. If you place her on her tummy she may be able to lift her head up momentarily. Talk a lot to her and she will watch you as you do this.

Be sure your baby’s cradle does not have metal/ wood projections that can hurt and do not use pillows in the cradle (they can smother the child).

Surround her with interesting shapes and bright colours, which she can look at while lying in her cot.

See to it that she has received BCG (Bacille Calmette Guerin) and zero dose of Oral Polio Vaccine.

Remember that she has to receive 1st dose of oral polio vaccine, triple antigen and hepatitis B injection when she is 6 weeks old.

Your baby should be exclusively Breast Fed i.e. no water, honey or any other liquids. Also remember that her stomach capacity is only 30- 70 ml (6 – 14 tsfs), so do not feel bad that she is only taking so much..
